A woman is shown standing next to a gold 2023 Lexus RX 350 for sale in a city. When you close your eyes and picture yourself driving through the city or leaving it all behind to head up to the Adirondacks or down to the Outer Banks for your next vacation, what kind of vehicle are you riding in? If the answer to that question is a gorgeously stylish, luxuriously sophisticated, and remarkably powerful midsize SUV, then you owe it to yourself to find a 2023 Lexus RX for sale. The big question, however, is which trim you should choose—because Lexus offers 10 different RX trims. Yes, that’s right: 10 different Lexus RX trims!

Fortunately, the differences between them can be pretty easy to get into, and once you understand a few basic things (particularly the engine options available), then your choices become much simpler. Still, you have quite a few different versions to choose from when shopping for a 2023 Lexus RX, which is why it’s so helpful to have someone by your side while you consider your options to ensure you get everything you need. Let’s take a look at what Lexus offers for the RX and see if we can figure out which one is perfect for you.

The Lexus RX 350 and RX 350h

If having 10 different RX trims available on the lots of Lexus dealerships seems overwhelming, then we have good news. While there technically are that many different options, you can break them down into fewer categories to consider. There are essentially four basic trims that offer two engine options (that’s eight trims), then there are two unique RX trims available (that’s 10). So we’ll start with the basic trim level, which is simply the RX 350.

For starters, this baseline trim comes with a 2.4L Turbo I-4 engine that delivers 275 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. You have two options for this engine: the standard trim comes with front-wheel drive (FWD), though you can also pick this engine with all-wheel drive (AWD). If you are interested in boosted efficiency, then there’s a 2.5L I-4 hybrid available that delivers 246 hp and 233 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid trims are designated with an “h” and come with AWD standard. The turbocharged engine gets an estimated 25 MPG combined, while the hybrid engine gives the 2023 Lexus RX an estimated 36 MPG combined, so you can make fewer stops for gas.

Those two options are found throughout the four main trim levels, so deciding which setup you want is one of the bigger decisions you will make. There’s an even more powerful engine available, but it’s restricted to a single trim, and we’ll get to it later. This base 2023 RX 350 comes with 19-inch wheels, rain-sensing windshield wipers, LED lights, and has a power tilt-and-slide moonroof available.

Inside this baseline trim, you will find fantastic features like a SmartAccess system with push-button Start/Stop, ambient illumination, and multi-zone climate control. You get a NuLuxe interior that’s comfortable, stylish, and surprisingly durable, featuring eight-way power-adjustable front seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, and heated front seats. A 9.8-inch infotainment display is standard on the 2023 Lexus RX 350, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus a 12-speaker sound system.

The Lexus RX 350 Premium and RX 350h Premium

You can choose the same engines and drive types for the next RX trim, the Premium, but you get a number of improvements on this trim inside and out. For example, the power tilt-and-slide moonroof is standard on the Premium trim, along with the starting exterior features, and a power rear door with a kick sensor is available for the Premium (you can’t get it on the baseline version). Heated and ventilated front seats are standard on the Premium, along with exquisite details like Black Open-Pore Wood and Ash Bamboo interior trim, and a heated wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel is available. An upgraded infotainment system and more advanced technology are available, while a wireless charger is standard inside the Premium.

The Lexus RX 350 Premium+ and RX 350h Premium+ Moving up to the Premium+ provides numerous upgrades to improve your overall driving experience in the 2023 Lexus RX, such as Thematic Ambient Illumination you can customize to match your mood and preferences. You also get a multi-zone climate control system with smog-sensing automatic recirculation mode that’s perfect for driving in the city, along with a perforated leather-trimmed interior. The Premium+ comes with a heated wood and leather-trimmed steering wheel along with an incredible 14-inch infotainment display, and a head-up display and advanced sound system become available options at this level.

The Lexus RX 350 Luxury and RX 350h Luxury

For one of the most stunning vehicles on the road, you need to take a look at the Luxury trim for the 2023 Lexus RX, which includes 21-inch wheels and options for a panorama glass roof, premium triple-beam LED headlamps, and much more. Inside the Luxury trim, you’ll find perforated semi-aniline leather-trimmed seating with 10-way power-adjustable driver and front-passenger seats, including four-way power lumbar adjustment. The Luxury has Ultrasuede interior door trim details for an added touch of refinement, a 10-inch color head-up display, and an available Mark Levinson 21-speaker PurePlay surround sound system for unbelievable audio.

The Lexus RX 350 F Sport Handling

If you are looking for an elevated driving experience that delivers a sporty ride, then the RX 350 F Sport Handling trim is a great choice. This comes with the 2.4L Turbo I-4 engine and AWD, but it features an F Sport-tuned suspension with performance dampers that you won't find on the previous trims. You get 21-inch wheels on the F Sport Handling, with a Gloss Black finish, plus exterior details like F Sport Gloss Black roof rails and F Sport badging, front fascia, and mesh grille insert. There are similar details inside, such as an F Sport perforated leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, aluminum pedals, scuff plates, and more. If you like the AWD performance of the standard engine and want a more finely-tuned ride with unique details, then this is a terrific choice.

The Lexus RX 500h F Sport Performance

Finally, we have a truly unique offering for the 2023 Lexus RX: the 500h F Sport Performance trim, which gives you incredible power to enjoy. This trim has an exclusive 2.4L Turbo I-4 engine with Lexus Hybrid Electric Drive that delivers 366 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque, giving you incredible performance. Standard non-hybrid trims can go from zero to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, while this one can do it in just 5.9 seconds and has a higher top speed of 130 mph. You get the F Sport-tuned suspension in this trim, just like the F Sport Handling trim, along with 21-inch wheels featuring a Matte Black finish. As you might expect, this trim has a lot of the same unique F Sport details inside and out, plus a perforated leather-trimmed interior and much more. For the ultimate expression of Lexus performance, this is the RX for you.
